Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of group psychotherapy that helps clients learn skills in order to overcome patterns of emotional misery and distress in their lives. Specifically, clients work to decrease behaviors characterized by interpersonal chaos, labile emotions, impulsiveness and cognitive disregulation. Clients also learn to increase interpersonal effectiveness skills, emotional regulation skills, distress tolerance skills and core mindfulness skills that combine to help them lead safer and more successful lives.
