Psychiatric Emergency Service

The Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) provides psychiatric evaluation, intervention and referral for both voluntary and involuntary patients twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. It is staffed with a qualified, multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals. The clinical staff provides crisis intervention and urgent medication assessments.

An individual may stay in PES for up to 24 hours. After discharge, some individuals go home, some are referred to community mental health resources, and others are admitted to John George or another local hospital.
