John George Psychiatric Hospital opened in 1992 and is named in the honor of John George, a member of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors who was a champion for the mentally ill. The hospital is committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute psychiatric illnesses.
